HELICA THERMAL COAGULATOR
Precise Non - Contact Low Power Low Pressure Helium Plasma Electrosurgical Device
Helica Thermal Coagulator is a highly accurate soft tissue coagulator that uses low pressure helium gas with low AC electrical power to ionise a jet of Helium gas, allowing tissue fulguration and producing a similar effect to the argon beam coagulator, but with enhanced safety features.
Precise Soft Tissue Coagulator
Helica Thermal Coagulator (HTC) is highly accurate and very easy to use soft tissue coagulator for Endoscopic, Laparascopic & Open Surgery. HTC works by combining low-pressure helium gas with low AC electrical power (2-12 watts at low setting). A blue beam of ionised helium creates a theoretical spot temperature of 500 degrees C that boils off tissue. Cauterize tissue depth varies between 1 cell to 1mm.
Ideal For Stage I & II Endometriosis
HTC helium beam can cover large areas of the peritoneum quickly and safely, applied to diseased tissue by 'painting' the target area. HTC can also bring about immediate pain relief by destroying blood supply to nerve endings near diseased tissue. The fulrugation process activates only when the tip of the probe is moved close to the tissue. HTC is most effective in stage I & II. It is also suitable for cauterising areas after excision in stages III & IV. More than 50,000 endometriosis surgeries with 40% UK marketshare in 170 centres.
Excellent Safety Profile Compared To Argon Beam Coagulator
Significantly lower power to fulgurate tissue, as low as 2W, which reduces risk of unintended electrical burns. In addition, gas embolism risk is reduced as helium gas pressure is 50 mmHg, which is lower than normal diastolic blood pressure. Surgeons have used HTC on vital areas such as bowel, bladder, ureter and larynx.
KEY FEATURES
1 Cell To 1 mm Depth Precision
Significantly Lower Power Applied Compared To Argon Beam Coagulator
Electrical arching risk is significantly reduced.
Helium gas ionises at 2W, compared to 40W for Argon gas.
Spanner hand held at 6W
Lower Gas Ebolism Risk
Helium gas pressure is 50 mmHg (lower than healthy diastolic blood pressure - 60 mmHg)
Fast And Easy To Use
Non-contact helium plasma beam covers large areas of tissue surfaces
Junior surgeons can easily operate Helica
Cost effective
Cheaper than Argon Beam Coagulator and CO2 laser systems
